I was reading my favorite cranky old guy’s column about a new law passed by the US congress to phase out wifi yesterday and was wondering why I didn’t hear about this news before which is quite far reaching. I thought how did this stupid law (which includes a “license fee” on wifi) get passed by congress. Since I didn’t hear anything about this locally I thought about blogging about it. I was already in the process when I noticed that the article date was April 1! A quick search on google and my suspicions got confirmed, it’s Dvorak’s version of an April Fool’s prank… Guess it’s april fools to me…

I thought that Experia X1 video was bad but Sony Europe one-up’s them and releases their own “huh?!?” video. How does crap like this get through supposedly competent marketing people ? Was this an April fools joke that was taken seriously by Sony ? I can imagine someone laughing maniacally right now and saying over and over again - “April Fools Sony…”

Here’s the video of the Sony Ericsson Experia X1 which I mentioned in my earlier post. So tell me does this video make you wanna go out to buy the phone or does it want to make you learn origami and make paper airplanes…

Wow I think I just found my next phone. Check out the Sony Ericsson Experia X1.
Despite the wow factor of the iPhone interface I’ve been sticking to my old Windows Mobile XDA IIs as I find several things lacking on the iPhone - non removable batteries, phone and sms features are a bit primitive, no 3G, can’t be used as a modem, no cut and paste - if you ask me no phone should call itself a “smart” phone if it can’t even do something as basic as cut and paste. Add to that the fact that I have several windows mobile apps which I can’t do without that can’t be found on the iPhone (I guess Bill Gates or rather Steve Ballmer owns me).

According to Azureus PLDT is guilty of massaging bandwidth of Bittorrent users.
Philippines
Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT)
Score Card:
Limits BitTorrent bandwidth: No
Tier 1 partners might shape: No
Proposed Encryption Level: 0
Limits bandwidth for accounts with a high traffic volume: Yes
Limits bandwidth during certain times of the day: No
Prevents Seeding: No
Prevents/filters .torrent download: No
Causes Unsolvable NAT problem: Yes
Offers no real flatrate: No
So far it’s only PLDT that’s guilty of doing this in the Philippines. I suspected they might have started to do this as recently I hardly get over 50k download speeds anymore when before I could get 400k(using a 3.6mbs connection). I guess this confirms it.

Got some time to kill ? Check out Tower Defense 2, I find that this version is a much easier than the first one. I was able to have a perfect game my third time out. It’s still dangerously addictive though so I’m giving you warning before it’s too late…

In case you’re wondering why this blog has stagnated well blame it on work and on the new site I’ve been doing experiments on. I’ve been trying to learn and implement some SEO tricks on the site DigitalFrap and I’ve found it strangely addictive and fun (though the promise of bucket loads of cash pouring […]

I got a pleasant surprise this friday when I accessed this blog (and also the other blog I manage with my friend - Happy Tripper!). Finally got some juice in the form of pagerank. Yeah it’s just PR1 but it’s a start.
This is the 2nd time that there has been a pagerank update ever since I started blogging, at first I didn’t get all the teeth gnashing (and crowing) that came with the updates but as I went along I got a better understanding of all the hoopla.
For those who don’t know what pagerank is well I’ll give you a long answer and a short answer.

Based on Yahoo’s recent announcement of their Yahoo Life initiative it looks like Yahoo is intent in making Yahoo Mail more social.
Whoopeeedooo, more useless info to clutter our inboxes. Not only do we have to deal with spam, and IM messages in our email client but now we have to suffer through all those “social announcements” from our friends most of which fall into two categories namely BORING (”Thinking of what to wear tomorrow…”) and SHOWING OFF (”Just read Umberto Eco latest book and I thought it was blah blah blah”).
