Well it’s that time of the year again, the time for gifts (mostly giving). Which brings me to the Christmas Law of Inverse Proportion: as your age increases the number of gifts you receive decreases. So if there are any kids reading this blog, enjoy Christmas while you can cause it’s all downhill from here.

I currently have a Sony PSP original or PSP Fat as they now call it which I’ve been using mostly to watch videos and play some games. Recently thought I got an iPod Nano (also the Fattie) which I thought of using instead to watch videos and also as a portable video player. I went to the Apple Store to check on the component cable for the iPod Nano, they don’t have any stock but the told me it costs P4,000 to P5,000 ($100). P5,000 for a freaking component cable !?! Too bad they didn’t have any stock as I wanted to check if this particular component cable had diamond studs.

I guess this is Apple’s new strategy, before almost all of their products were expensive but now the main items (laptops, ipods, etc) are actually quite affordable but they kill you on the accessories. I mean for the price of an Apple Mouse and Power Cord you can buy your self a new MacBook.

Which brings me to the PSP, after some thought I said to myself why do I need to change gadgets ? What I really should do is to get the new PSP Slim instead. I still get to play games, watch videos, listen to music/podcasts, browse the net and read ebooks. And as an added bonus with the PSP Slim I can connect it to a TV via a component cable which won’t cost me an arm and a leg.

So goodbye PSP (Fat), hello PSP (Slim)…
