Google Pagerank for (Naughty) Dummies

I got a pleasant surprise this friday when I accessed this blog (and also the other blog I manage with my friend - Happy Tripper!). Finally got some juice in the form of pagerank. Yeah it’s just PR1 but it’s a start.

This is the 2nd time that there has been a pagerank update ever since I started blogging, at first I didn’t get all the teeth gnashing (and crowing) that came with the updates but as I went along I got a better understanding of all the hoopla.

For those who don’t know what pagerank is well I’ll give you a long answer and a short answer.

Google "Upgrades" Flight Search

The hits from Google just keeps on coming, now they’re taking on travel sites with their newly “upgraded” flight search.

On face value it’s actually a great feature for those searching for flight schedules however it again raises the question about Google’s quest to monopolize the web. If Microsoft’s motto is “a desktop in every home” it’s beginning to look more and more like Google’s is “a Google property/partner in every search”.

Google Knol: Do No Evil (?)

Between the Google Video Debacle, the brouhaha over Pagerank penalties and allegations of Google favoring its own products (Youtube and Blogspot) the past few month has certainly been rough for Google PR-wise.

GDrive’s Coming!

GDrive’s Coming! GDrive’s Coming! Oh wait, it’s actually already here only it’s called GSpace. Considering that I’ve been using GSpace for almost two years now it’s really puzzling why Google is coming out with their online storage service only now.
I’ve used several online storage services before (OmniDrive, eSnips, xDrive, box.net, etc), frankly most of them […]

Google’s OpenSocial Hacked!

Looks like someone got working on Google’s Opensocial API. Within 45 minutes of releasing "emote", Plaxo’s OpenSocial application got hacked…
A developer who goes by the alias “theharmonyguy” and describes himself as “just an amateur” claims to have compromised the RockYou OpenSocial application on Plaxo called emote (see the Plaxo blog for details on the application). […]

Stupid Tech News Of The Day - 600613 Sues Google

Talk about frivolous lawsuits - a man is suing Google for “crimes against humanity”. Why ? Because when you scramble his social security number and turn it upside down it spells “google”. And get this, he’s suing for $5 BILLION! Any chance he’s this guy ?

Five Billion Dollars… MWAHAHAHAHA…
