The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread

Wow (or rather the newly fashionable W00t!), the greatest thing since sliced bread just got better. Reports have it that the PSP will be getting Skype and not only that it has a solar powered charger!

Best Christmas Gift Ever

I just got the best christmas gift ever, no I wasn’t able to get the PSP Slim which I mentioned here in this blog but I did get something better, waaayyy better. It is also a lot more expensive though, for starters I had to shell out P60,000 ($1400) for it, and that’s just the initial cash out there’s still a monthly maintenance fee which will probably cost me another P5,000-P10,000 ($120-$240).

Pushing my Luck

Seems Yugatech is running another contest, given that I won two contests in the past couple of weeks (one by Yugatech which I won by default - not enough ProBlogContesters) I’ll try to see how far I can push my luck.

Everything I Needed to Know, I Learned from the Blogosphere

Been making the rounds of blogs lately and it seems most of them are in the “Yearly Round Up/Top Posts of the Year” mode a.k.a. “I’m too lazy to write original content so I will rehash old content and pretend I’m saying something new”.

So in the spirit of christmas and comradery I’m following suit and coming up with my end of year round up. Problem is this blog is still new I don’t have that many posts to pick from, so instead of the usual top ten posts I’m coming up with the “Things I Learned from the Blogosphere”.

All I Want for Christmas is my PSP, my PSP…

Well it’s that time of the year again, the time for gifts (mostly giving). Which brings me to the Christmas Law of Inverse Proportion: as your age increases the number of gifts you receive decreases. So if there are any kids reading this blog, enjoy Christmas while you can cause it’s all downhill from here.

The (CDR) King and I

When friends ask me whether CDR-King’s products are good buys I usually tell them it’s a lot like picking up a girl in a bar in the red light district of Thailand. You never know if you will have the time of your life or will be puking at the toilet when it turns out the girl you’re with is actually a guy.

The Accidental ProBlogContester

Well what do you know, a couple of days after I made a post on being a ProBlogContester I win an online contest on Prince John Blog! Hmmm maybe there is something to this ProBlogContester thingy…

This is actually the first time I won a “raffle” aside of course from those company raffles where 178% of the people attending win a prize (which has a 99.99% probability it’s something we can’t use or want to use so it ends up being next year’s exchange gift).

Google "Upgrades" Flight Search

The hits from Google just keeps on coming, now they’re taking on travel sites with their newly “upgraded” flight search.

On face value it’s actually a great feature for those searching for flight schedules however it again raises the question about Google’s quest to monopolize the web. If Microsoft’s motto is “a desktop in every home” it’s beginning to look more and more like Google’s is “a Google property/partner in every search”.

Man Bites Dog: School Sues Microsoft Philippines for Piracy

Most people in the IT field have probably heard the news about Microsoft Philippines being sued for piracy by the Southeastern School based in Pasay. Anyway just read some of the details of the case in the newspapers, so basically the issue is Microsoft bought some print copies of the SEC’s manual then apparently gave away PDF copies of it on CD, which numbers around 700 pieces.

I find it odd that Southeastern College choose to sue Microsoft Philippines given that SEC and Microsoft Philippines have worked together before and the relatively small number of copies given away (though this opens the doors for digital piracy). What, they can’t kiss and make up over some CD containing files which the vast majority of the public couldn’t give a rat’s ass about ? I mean a computer manual ?!
